Rohde & Schwarz Joins AI-RAN Alliance: Leveraging T&M Expertise to Drive AI in Wireless Communications
Rohde & Schwarz has joined the AI-RAN Alliance to utilize its expertise in testing and measurement (T&M) to explore the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in improving wireless communications. This collaboration aims to incorporate AI into wireless networks to enhance radio access network (RAN) performance and mobile networks. By joining this alliance, Rohde & Schwarz is taking a step towards 6G technology and strengthening its partnership with industry leaders in developing AI-native air interfaces.
Rohde & Schwarz has decided to become a member of the AI-RAN Alliance, which will help them collaborate with important companies in the industry like NVIDIA, Ericsson, Nokia, and Samsung. This partnership will enhance their involvement in creating AI-focused air interface testing methods. Rohde & Schwarz will bring their advanced testing tools and extensive experience to the alliance, working together to improve upcoming wireless networks.
Established in February 2024 at the latest Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona, the AI-RAN Alliance aims to utilize the technology knowledge and combined leadership of its members to concentrate on three main areas of research and innovation as the industry transitions to 6G.
Before becoming a member of the alliance, Rohde & Schwarz worked with NVIDIA's research team on research related to 6G technology. They created a test platform to investigate neural receiver implementations that could enhance performance and network efficiency in the air interface. By joining the alliance, Rohde & Schwarz has shown their dedication to advancing wireless communications through innovation and working together with others.
Andreas Pauly, who holds the position of Chief Technology Officer at Rohde & Schwarz, emphasized the importance of working together to fully utilize the capabilities of 6G technology, specifically an AI-focused air interface. Through partnerships with key players in the industry and participation in the AI-RAN Alliance, the company is able to stay ahead in the field of wireless communications innovation. This allows the ecosystem to benefit from their expertise in developing comprehensive testing solutions for the wireless industry.
