Infineon and Swoboda Collaborate to Develop High-Performance Current Sensors for Electromobility: Accelerating Innovation in Automotive Applications

Infineon Technologies AG and Swoboda are working together to create advanced current sensors for electric vehicles. By combining Infineon's top-of-the-line current sensor ICs with Swoboda's experience in developing sensor modules, they aim to meet the increasing demand for sensing solutions in the automotive industry. This collaboration will speed up the process of bringing high-performance current measurement solutions to market for applications like traction inverters and battery management systems in electric vehicles, as well as other important automotive uses.

One of the new products is the Swoboda CSM510HP2, which has a compact current sensor module that does not sacrifice performance. It utilizes the Infineon TLE4973 coreless current sensor IC for accurate sensing with less than 2 percent error. This module is designed to easily integrate with the HybridPACK™ Drive G2, Infineon's power module for electric vehicle traction inverters. By eliminating the need for external current sensors, it allows for more compact traction inverters in the market.

Klaus Lebherz, Head of Business Development at Swoboda, stated that the new current sensors are setting new benchmarks for easy system integration. He mentioned that the combination of Infineon's sensor technology and Swoboda's expertise in injection molding was a perfect fit.

Andrea Monterastelli, who is in charge of the Automotive Magnetic Sensors Product Group at Infineon Technologies, mentioned that the market is looking for current sensing solutions that are high performance, compact, and easy to integrate. He also highlighted that their current sensor ICs, when combined with Swoboda's expertise, provide a compact solution for hybrid and electric vehicles that seamlessly fits into Infineon's HybridPack Drive G2.

Infineon and Swoboda are working together to create new current sensing solutions for various power devices. They are also focusing on applications such as inverter DC link and high voltage battery management.
