Infineon and Swoboda Revolutionize Electromobility with High-Performance Current Sensor Modules for Automotive Applications

Infineon Technologies AG and Swoboda are working together to create advanced current sensors for electric vehicles. By combining Infineon's top-quality current sensor ICs with Swoboda's experience in developing sensor modules, they aim to meet the increasing demand for sensing solutions in the automotive industry, particularly for hybrid and electric vehicles. This collaboration will lead to faster development and market introduction of high-performance current measurement solutions for key automotive applications like traction inverters and battery management systems.

One of the new products available is the Swoboda CSM510HP2, which includes a compact current sensor module that maintains high performance. It utilizes the Infineon TLE4973 coreless current sensor IC for precise sensing with minimal error. This module is designed to seamlessly integrate with Infineon's HybridPACK™ Drive G2, a power module for electric vehicle traction inverters. By eliminating the need for external current sensors, it allows for more compact traction inverters to be produced.

Klaus Lebherz, Head of Business Development at Swoboda, expressed that the new current sensors are setting higher standards for easier system integration. He highlighted that the combination of Infineon's sensor technology and Swoboda's injection molding expertise has been a successful partnership.

Andrea Monterastelli, who is the Head of the Automotive Magnetic Sensors Product Group at Infineon Technologies, stated that the market is looking for current sensing solutions that are high performing, compact, and easy to integrate. He mentioned that their current sensor ICs, along with Swoboda's expertise, seamlessly fit into Infineon's HybridPack Drive G2, providing the most compact solution for hybrid and electric vehicles.

Infineon and Swoboda are working together to create new current sensing solutions that can be used for various types of power devices. These solutions will also be useful for applications such as inverter DC link and high voltage battery management.
