Infineon and Swoboda Collaborate to Develop High-Performance Current Sensors for Electromobility: Accelerating Innovation in Automotive Applications

Infineon and Swoboda are working together to create advanced current sensors for electric vehicles. Infineon is providing top-quality current sensor ICs, while Swoboda brings their experience in developing and producing sensor modules. This partnership aims to meet the increasing demand for sensing solutions in hybrid and electric vehicles. The joint effort will help speed up the introduction of high-performance current measurement solutions for important automotive components like traction inverters and battery management systems.

One of the new products available is the Swoboda CSM510HP2, which includes a current sensor module that is fully enclosed and has a smaller size without sacrificing performance. It uses the Infineon TLE4973 coreless current sensor IC for accurate sensing with an error rate of less than 2 percent. This module is made to easily integrate with the HybridPACK™ Drive G2, a power module from Infineon used in electric vehicle traction inverters. This integration eliminates the need for external current sensors, making the traction inverters more compact than ever before.

Klaus Lebherz, the Head of Business Development at Swoboda, stated that the new current sensors are raising the bar for system integration with their simplified design. He mentioned that the combination of Infineon's sensor technology and Swoboda's expertise in injection molding has been a successful collaboration.

Andrea Monterastelli, who is the Head of the Automotive Magnetic Sensors Product Group at Infineon Technologies, stated that the market is looking for current sensing solutions that are high performing, compact, and easy to integrate. By integrating Infineon's best-in-class current sensor ICs into the HybridPack Drive G2, they are able to provide the most compact solution for hybrid and electric vehicles. This integration is made possible thanks to the expertise of Swoboda.

Infineon and Swoboda are working together to create more current sensing solutions that can be used for various types of power devices. They are also focusing on applications such as inverter DC link and high voltage battery management.
