Infineon and Swoboda Collaborate to Develop High-Performance Current Sensors for Electromobility: Accelerating Innovation in Automotive Applications
Infineon Technologies AG and Swoboda are working together to create advanced current sensors for electric vehicles. By combining Infineon's top-notch current sensor ICs with Swoboda's skills in developing sensor modules, they aim to meet the increasing demand for sensing solutions in the automotive industry. This partnership will speed up the availability of high-performance current measurement solutions for various applications in electric and hybrid vehicles, including traction inverters and battery management systems.
One of the new products is the Swoboda CSM510HP2, which includes a compact current sensor module that maintains high performance. It utilizes the Infineon TLE4973 coreless current sensor IC for precise sensing with less than 2 percent error. This module is designed to seamlessly integrate with the HybridPACK™ Drive G2, Infineon's power module for electric vehicle traction inverters. By eliminating the need for external current sensors, it allows for more compact traction inverters to be produced.
Klaus Lebherz, the Head of Business Development at Swoboda, stated that the new current sensors are raising the bar for system integration. He mentioned that the combination of Infineon's sensor technology and Swoboda's expertise in injection molding has proven to be highly effective.
Andrea Monterastelli, who is in charge of the Automotive Magnetic Sensors Product Group at Infineon Technologies, stated that the market is looking for current sensing solutions that are high performing, compact, and easy to integrate. By incorporating Infineon's current sensor ICs and Swoboda's expertise, the HybridPack Drive G2 by Infineon offers a compact solution for hybrid and electric vehicles.
Infineon and Swoboda are working together to create new current sensing solutions for various power devices. They are also focusing on applications like inverter DC link and managing high voltage batteries, among others.
