Infineon and Swoboda Join Forces to Develop High-Performance Current Sensors for Electromobility: Accelerating Innovation in Automotive Applications
Infineon Technologies AG and Swoboda are working together to create advanced current sensors for electric vehicles. They are combining Infineon's top-quality current sensor ICs with Swoboda's skills in developing sensor modules to meet the increasing demand for sensing solutions in hybrid and electric cars. This partnership will help speed up the process of bringing high-performance current measurement solutions to the market for applications like traction inverters and battery management systems in the automotive industry.
One of the new products available is the Swoboda CSM510HP2, which includes a compact current sensor module that maintains high performance. This module utilizes the Infineon TLE4973 coreless current sensor IC, allowing for precise sensing with an error rate below 2 percent. It is designed to seamlessly integrate with Infineon's HybridPACK™ Drive G2, a power module for electric vehicle traction inverters. By eliminating the need for external current sensors, this module enables the creation of highly compact traction inverters for electric vehicles.
Klaus Lebherz, Head of Business Development at Swoboda, stated that the new current sensors are advancing system integration. The combination of Infineon's sensor technology and Swoboda's expertise in injection molding has proven to be highly effective.
Andrea Monterastelli, who leads the Automotive Magnetic Sensors Product Group at Infineon Technologies, stated that the market is looking for current sensing solutions that are high performance, compact, and easy to integrate. The current sensor ICs from Infineon, when combined with Swoboda's expertise, seamlessly integrate into Infineon's HybridPack Drive G2 to provide the most compact solution for hybrid and electric vehicles.
Infineon and Swoboda are working together to create new current sensing solutions for various power devices. These solutions will also be used for applications such as inverter DC link and high voltage battery management.
