Infineon and Swoboda Collaborate to Develop High-Performance Current Sensors for Electromobility: Accelerating Innovation in Automotive Applications

Infineon and Swoboda are working together to create advanced current sensors for electric vehicles. By combining Infineon's top-notch current sensor ICs with Swoboda's skills in developing sensor modules, they aim to meet the increasing demand for sensing solutions in the automotive industry. This collaboration will speed up the production of current measurement solutions for popular applications like traction inverters and battery management systems in hybrid and electric vehicles, as well as other important automotive uses.

One of the new products, the Swoboda CSM510HP2, includes a compact current sensor module that maintains high performance while taking up less space. It utilizes the Infineon TLE4973 coreless current sensor IC for precise sensing with an error rate of less than 2 percent. This module is specially made to seamlessly work with the HybridPACK™ Drive G2, Infineon's power module for electric vehicle traction inverters. By integrating the current sensor within the module, there is no need for separate external sensors, resulting in more compact traction inverters.

Klaus Lebherz, the Head of Business Development at Swoboda, mentioned that the new current sensors have raised the bar for system integration. He highlighted that the combination of Infineon's sensor technology and Swoboda's expertise in injection molding worked seamlessly together.

Andrea Monterastelli, who is the Head of Automotive Magnetic Sensors Product Group at Infineon Technologies, stated that the market is looking for current sensing solutions that are high performing, compact, and easy to integrate. The current sensor ICs from Infineon Technologies, along with Swoboda's expertise, seamlessly fit into Infineon's HybridPack Drive G2, providing the most compact solution for hybrid and electric vehicles.

Infineon and Swoboda are working together to create new current sensing solutions for various power devices. They are also focusing on applications such as inverter DC link and high voltage battery management.
