Infineon and Swoboda Partner to Develop High-Performance Current Sensors for Electromobility: Accelerating Innovation in Automotive Applications

Infineon Technologies AG and Swoboda are working together to create advanced current sensors for electric vehicles. By combining Infineon's top-quality sensor ICs with Swoboda's skills in developing sensor modules, they aim to meet the increasing demand for sensing solutions in the automotive industry. This partnership will speed up the production of current measurement solutions for popular applications like traction inverters and battery management systems in hybrid and electric vehicles, as well as other important automotive functions.

One of the new design products, the Swoboda CSM510HP2, includes a compact current sensor module that maintains high performance while taking up less space. This module utilizes the Infineon TLE4973 coreless current sensor IC to provide precise sensing with an error rate below 2 percent. It is designed to seamlessly integrate with Infineon's HybridPACK™ Drive G2, a power module for traction inverters in electric vehicles. This integration eliminates the need for additional external current sensors, allowing for the creation of the most compact traction inverters available on the market.

Klaus Lebherz, Head of Business Development at Swoboda, stated that the new current sensors are setting higher standards for easier system integration. He mentioned that the combination of Infineon's sensor technology and Swoboda's expertise in injection molding has proven to be a successful collaboration.

Andrea Monterastelli, who leads the Automotive Magnetic Sensors Product Group at Infineon Technologies, stated that there is a growing need in the market for current sensing solutions that are high-performing, compact, and easy to integrate. By incorporating Infineon's top-notch current sensor ICs and Swoboda's expertise, the HybridPack Drive G2 provides the most compact solution for hybrid and electric vehicles.

Infineon and Swoboda are working together to create new current sensing solutions for various types of power devices. They are also focusing on applications such as inverter DC link and high voltage battery management.
