Infineon and Swoboda Revolutionize Electromobility with High-Performance Current Sensor Modules

Infineon Technologies AG and Swoboda are working together to create advanced current sensors for electric vehicles. This collaboration combines Infineon's top-of-the-line current sensor ICs with Swoboda's knowledge in developing sensor modules for automotive use. The focus is on the growing demand for sensing solutions in hybrid and electric vehicles. These joint efforts are aimed at speeding up the development process for high-volume applications like traction inverters and battery management systems in the automotive industry.

One of the new products available is the Swoboda CSM510HP2, which includes a compact current sensor module that maintains high performance. It utilizes the Infineon TLE4973 coreless current sensor IC to provide precise sensing with minimal error. This module is designed to seamlessly integrate with the HybridPACK™ Drive G2, Infineon's automotive power module for traction inverters in electric vehicles. By eliminating the need for external current sensors, it allows for the creation of the most compact traction inverters on the market.

Klaus Lebherz, the Head of Business Development at Swoboda, mentioned that these new current sensors are raising the bar when it comes to easy system integration. The combination of Infineon's advanced sensor technology and Swoboda's expertise in injection molding proved to be a perfect fit.

Andrea Monterastelli, who leads the Automotive Magnetic Sensors Product Group at Infineon Technologies, stated that there is a growing need in the market for current sensing solutions that are high performing, compact, and easy to integrate. The current sensor ICs from Infineon, combined with Swoboda's expertise, seamlessly integrate into the HybridPack Drive G2, providing the most compact solution for hybrid and electric vehicles.

Infineon and Swoboda are working together on creating new current sensing solutions for various types of power devices. These solutions will also be used in applications such as inverter DC link and high voltage battery management.
