EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Collaborate to Enhance OTA Measurements for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap Devices

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by incorporating the advanced test features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel signaling tester. This integration allows for support of LTE, FR1, and FR2, as well as compliance with the latest WLAN standard IEEE 802.11be and 5G RedCap.

EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers are now compatible with the latest testing features of the R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester can test a variety of devices, including those using LTE, 5G NR FR1 up to 8 GHz, and FR2 millimeter wave frequency up to 50 GHz, with support for 5G RedCap technology. It also has capabilities for non-cellular technologies like Wi-Fi 7, all in one device. Through this partnership, EMITE's customers will have a comprehensive setup for accurately evaluating the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices.

EMITE's upgraded OTA chambers are equipped to meet the demanding testing needs of both present and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the integration of test capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

The upcoming IEEE 802.11be standard, also known as Wi-Fi 7, is the latest advancement in Wi-Fi technology. It is specifically created to handle very high data speeds, exceeding the capabilities of the current IEEE 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6/6E). With the capacity to transmit tens of gigabits of data per second and minimal delays, Wi-Fi 7 caters to the increasing need for streaming ultra-high-definition videos, as well as supporting immersive virtual reality and augmented reality experiences.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was introduced in 3GPP Release 17. It is a simplified version of 5G that is more cost-effective than the enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB) version. RedCap offers moderate data speeds, uses less power, has simpler technology, and can connect to many devices. This makes it a popular choice for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

The CEO of EMITE, David A. Sánchez-Hernández, expressed the company's dedication to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. He announced the upgrade of their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, which will allow customers to test devices based on the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This collaboration highlights EMITE's commitment to offering advanced testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed satisfaction in the advancement of their partnership with EMITE. By integrating the R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers, customers can be assured that their devices have undergone thorough testing to ensure they meet the highest standards of performance and reliability for the latest technologies.
