EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Collaborate to Support OTA Measurements for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap: Advancing Testing Solutions for Next-Generation Technologies

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz have partnered to assist with OTA measurements on Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap. They are working together to enhance EMITE's OTA measurement solutions by integrating the latest test capabilities of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel one-box signaling tester. This integration allows for support of LTE, FR1, and FR2, as well as compliance with the advanced WLAN standard IEEE 802.11be and 5G RedCap.

EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be used together with the cutting-edge testing capabilities of the R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester can test a variety of devices and technologies, including LTE, 5G NR in both the FR1 frequency range up to 8 GHz and FR2 millimeter wave frequency range up to 50 GHz, and the latest 5G RedCap technology. It also supports non-cellular technologies like Wi-Fi 7, all within one instrument. This collaboration allows EMITE's customers to have a comprehensive setup for accurately evaluating the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices.

EMITE's updated OTA chambers are prepared to meet the demanding testing needs of both current and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of their partnership will involve incorporating test capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

Wi-Fi 7, also known as IEEE 802.11be, is the upcoming standard in Wi-Fi technology aimed at providing significantly faster data speeds than its predecessor, Wi-Fi 6/6E (IEEE 802.11ax). With the capability to handle tens of gigabits per second and reduce latency, Wi-Fi 7 is designed to cater to the increasing need for high-quality video streaming, virtual reality, and augmented reality experiences.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was introduced in the 3GPP Release 17. It is a more simplified version of 5G that is much cheaper than the full 5G eMBB. RedCap has moderate data speeds, consumes less power, has simpler technology, and can handle a large volume of devices. This makes it a popular choice for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

The CEO of EMITE, David A. Sánchez-Hernández, expressed the company's dedication to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. He announced the upgrade of their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, which will allow customers to test products according to the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This partnership highlights EMITE's commitment to offering advanced testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed his satisfaction with the enhanced partnership with EMITE. This collaboration allows EMITE's customers to have assurance in deploying their devices for cutting-edge technologies, as their products have undergone thorough testing to ensure they meet the highest standards of reliability and efficiency. This has been made achievable through incorporating Rohde & Schwarz's reliable R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers lineup.
