EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Partner to Revolutionize OTA Measurements for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap Devices

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by incorporating the advanced test features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel signaling tester. This integration allows for support of LTE, FR1, FR2, IEEE 802.11be WLAN standard, and 5G RedCap.

EMITE has advanced over-the-air chambers that can now be used in conjunction with the sophisticated testing capabilities of the R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester can test a wide range of devices, including LTE, 5G NR in the FR1 frequency range up to 8 GHz, and FR2 millimeter wave frequency range up to 50 GHz, along with the latest 5G RedCap technology. It also supports non-cellular technologies such as Wi-Fi 7, all within a single device. Through this partnership, EMITE's customers can accurately evaluate the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices in a comprehensive testing environment.

EMITE's upgraded OTA chambers are equipped to meet the demanding testing needs of both current and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the integration of test capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

The upcoming IEEE 802.11be standard, also known as Wi-Fi 7, is the latest advancement in Wi-Fi technology. It is specifically created to handle a significantly higher amount of data compared to its predecessor, IEEE 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6/6E). This new standard can achieve data speeds in the tens of gigabits per second range with minimal delays, making it ideal for meeting the increasing need for ultra-high-definition video streaming, as well as immersive virtual reality and augmented reality experiences.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was established in 3GPP Release 17. It is designed to be a more affordable option compared to full 5G, offering mid-range data speeds, low energy usage, simplicity, and the ability to connect to many devices. These features make it well-suited for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

David A. Sánchez-Hernández, the CEO of EMITE, expressed the company's dedication to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. He announced the exciting news that EMITE will be upgrading their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, allowing customers to test devices that comply with the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This partnership highlights EMITE's commitment to delivering advanced testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed his satisfaction with the enhanced partnership with EMITE. By integrating the reliable R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers portfolio, customers can deploy their devices for new technologies with confidence, as their products have been rigorously tested to ensure high standards of reliability and efficiency.
