Enhancing OTA Measurements: EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Collaborate on Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap Technology Integration

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by incorporating the advanced test features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel signaling tester. This integration allows for support of LTE, FR1, FR2, IEEE 802.11be WLAN standard, and 5G RedCap.

EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be used in conjunction with the cutting-edge testing capabilities of the R&S CMX500 all-in-one signaling tester by Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester can test a wide range of devices and support various cellular technologies like LTE, 5G NR FR1 up to 8 GHz, and FR2 millimeter wave frequency up to 50 GHz, including the latest 5G RedCap technology. It also has the ability to test non-cellular technologies such as the latest Wi-Fi 7, all within a single instrument. Through this partnership, EMITE's customers can benefit from a comprehensive setup for accurately evaluating the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices.

EMITE's advanced OTA chambers are well-equipped to meet the demanding testing needs of both current and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the integration of test capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

Wi-Fi 7, also known as IEEE 802.11be, is an upcoming standard in Wi-Fi technology that is designed to provide very high data speeds, exceeding the capabilities of its predecessor Wi-Fi 6/6E (IEEE 802.11ax). It offers data throughput of tens of gigabits per second and minimal delays, catering to the increasing need for high-definition video streaming, virtual reality, and augmented reality experiences.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was introduced in 3GPP Release 17. It is a simplified version of 5G that is more affordable than 5G eMBB. RedCap offers moderate data speeds, low energy usage, simple design, and can connect to many devices, making it ideal for Internet of Things (IoT) uses.

The CEO of EMITE, David A. Sánchez-Hernández, expressed the company's dedication to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. EMITE is thrilled to enhance their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, allowing customers to expand their capabilities to include the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This collaboration demonstrates EMITE's commitment to delivering top-notch testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed his satisfaction with the enhanced partnership with EMITE. This collaboration ensures that EMITE's clients can confidently use their devices with the latest technologies, as their products have undergone thorough testing to ensure they meet the highest standards of reliability and efficiency. This is achieved through the integration of Rohde & Schwarz's R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers portfolio.
