Enhancing OTA Measurements: EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Collaborate for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap Testing
EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by incorporating the advanced testing features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel signaling tester. This integration not only supports LTE, FR1, and FR2, but also ensures compliance with the latest WLAN standard IEEE 802.11be and 5G RedCap technology.
EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be integrated with the advanced testing features of the R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester offers a wide range of testing capabilities for devices, supporting LTE and 5G NR technologies in both lower and millimeter wave frequency ranges. It also supports non-cellular technologies like Wi-Fi 7, all within one instrument. Through this partnership, EMITE's customers have access to a comprehensive setup for accurately evaluating the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices.
The upgraded OTA chambers from EMITE are equipped to meet the demanding testing needs of both current and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the integration of testing capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.
The upcoming Wi-Fi 7 standard, also known as IEEE 802.11be, is designed to provide significantly higher data throughput compared to Wi-Fi 6/6E (IEEE 802.11ax). With speeds of tens of gigabits per second and minimal latency, Wi-Fi 7 caters to the increasing need for high-definition video streaming, virtual reality, and augmented reality experiences.
RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was introduced in 3GPP Release 17. It is a simplified version of 5G that is more cost-effective than 5G eMBB. RedCap offers moderate data speeds, efficient power usage, simple design, and can handle a high volume of devices. These features make it a popular choice for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.
The CEO of EMITE, David A. Sánchez-Hernández, expressed the company's dedication to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. EMITE is pleased to enhance their testing chambers by incorporating the R&S CMX500, which will allow customers to test the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This collaboration highlights EMITE's commitment to offering advanced testing solutions that cater to the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.
Christoph Pointner, who is the Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed his excitement about advancing their partnership with EMITE. By integrating Rohde & Schwarz's R&S CMX500 signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers portfolio, customers can have confidence in deploying their devices for new technologies. This collaboration ensures that products have undergone thorough testing to meet the highest standards of reliability and efficiency.
