Enhancing OTA Measurements for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap: EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Collaborate for Advanced Testing Solutions

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by incorporating the advanced test features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel signaling tester. This integration allows for support of LTE, FR1, FR2, IEEE 802.11be WLAN standard, and 5G RedCap, enhancing the capabilities of OTA measurements for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G technologies.

EMITE has integrated their advanced over-the-air chambers with the R&S CMX500 signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This collaboration allows for comprehensive device testing capabilities for cellular technologies like LTE and 5G NR, with frequency ranges up to 8 GHz and 50 GHz, including 5G RedCap technology. Additionally, non-cellular technologies like Wi-Fi 7 are also supported in a single instrument. Customers of EMITE now have access to a complete testing environment to accurately evaluate the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices.

EMITE's upgraded OTA chambers are equipped to meet the demanding testing needs of both present and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the integration of test features for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

Wi-Fi 7, also known as the IEEE 802.11be standard, is the upcoming advancement in Wi-Fi technology aimed at providing significantly faster data speeds compared to Wi-Fi 6/6E (IEEE 802.11ax). With the capability to handle tens of gigabits of data per second and minimal delays, Wi-Fi 7 is ideal for meeting the increasing need for high-quality video streaming, virtual reality experiences, and augmented reality applications.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was introduced in 3GPP Release 17. It is a more affordable option compared to full 5G eMBB, offering mid-range data speeds, low energy consumption, simple design, and the ability to connect to many devices. These features make it a popular choice for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

David A. Sánchez-Hernández, the CEO of EMITE, expressed that the company is dedicated to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. As part of this commitment, EMITE is pleased to announce the enhancement of their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, allowing customers to expand their capabilities to support the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This collaboration highlights EMITE's focus on delivering top-notch testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed his satisfaction in taking the partnership with EMITE to the next stage. Through the incorporation of Rohde & Schwarz's R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers portfolio, customers can be assured that their devices have undergone thorough testing to ensure they meet the strictest standards of reliability and efficiency for the latest technologies.
