EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Partner to Enhance OTA Measurements for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap Technology

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by incorporating the advanced test features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel signaling tester. This integration allows for support of LTE, FR1, FR2, IEEE 802.11be WLAN standard, and 5G RedCap.

EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be integrated with the new testing features of the R&S CMX500 signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester can test a variety of devices, including those using LTE, 5G NR FR1 up to 8 GHz, and FR2 millimeter wave up to 50 GHz, along with the latest 5G RedCap technology. It also supports non-cellular technologies like Wi-Fi 7, all in one device. Through this partnership, EMITE's customers can effectively evaluate the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices.

EMITE has upgraded its OTA chambers to meet the demanding testing needs of both current and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the integration of test capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

The IEEE 802.11be standard, also known as Wi-Fi 7, is a new and advanced version of Wi-Fi technology aimed at delivering very high data speeds that exceed those of its predecessor, IEEE 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6/6E). With the capability of handling tens of gigabits per second and providing low latency, this standard addresses the increasing need for ultra-high-definition video streaming, as well as applications like virtual reality and augmented reality that provide immersive experiences.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology introduced in 3GPP Release 17. It is a simplified version of 5G that is much cheaper than 5G eMBB. RedCap offers moderate data speeds, low energy usage, simple design, and the capability to connect to numerous devices. These features make it a popular choice for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

David A. Sánchez-Hernández, the CEO of EMITE, expressed the company's dedication to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. They are thrilled to enhance their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, which will allow customers to test devices according to the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This collaboration highlights EMITE's commitment to offering advanced testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed his satisfaction with the enhanced partnership with EMITE. By integrating the R&S CMX500 signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers, customers can have confidence in the reliability and efficiency of their devices for cutting-edge technologies. The rigorous testing ensures that products meet the highest standards.
