EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Revolutionize OTA Measurements for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap with Integrated Testing Solutions

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz have partnered to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by incorporating the advanced test features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel one-box signaling tester. This integration allows for LTE, FR1, FR2, IEEE 802.11be, and 5G RedCap support in OTA measurements.

EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be used in conjunction with the cutting-edge testing capabilities of the R&S CMX500 signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester can test a wide range of devices, including those using LTE, 5G NR in the FR1 frequency range up to 8 GHz, and FR2 millimeter wave frequency range up to 50 GHz, with support for the latest 5G RedCap technology. It also has the ability to test non-cellular technologies like Wi-Fi 7, all within one instrument. Through this partnership, EMITE's customers can benefit from a comprehensive testing environment for accurately evaluating the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices.

EMITE's updated over-the-air chambers are fully prepared to meet the demanding testing needs of both current and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the addition of test capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

The upcoming IEEE 802.11be standard, also known as Wi-Fi 7, is the latest advancement in Wi-Fi technology aimed at providing significantly faster data speeds than its predecessor, IEEE 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6/6E). With the ability to handle tens of gigabits of data per second and minimal delays, Wi-Fi 7 addresses the increasing need for high-quality video streaming, as well as virtual reality and augmented reality experiences.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was introduced in the 3GPP Release 17. It is a simplified version of 5G that is much cheaper than 5G eMBB. RedCap is known for its moderate data speeds, low energy usage, simple design, and capability to connect to numerous devices. These features make it an appealing option for IoT uses.

David A. Sánchez-Hernández, the CEO of EMITE, mentioned that the company is dedicated to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. He expressed enthusiasm about upgrading their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, which will allow customers to test devices based on the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This partnership highlights EMITE's commitment to offering advanced testing solutions that meet the changing requirements of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who is the Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed his excitement about advancing their partnership with EMITE. By integrating their R&S CMX500 signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers portfolio, they are ensuring that EMITE's customers can confidently use their devices with the latest technologies. This collaboration guarantees that the products have undergone thorough testing to meet the highest standards of reliability and efficiency.
