EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Collaborate to Support OTA Measurements on Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap: Enhancing Testing Capabilities for Future Wireless Technologies

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's OTA measurement solutions by incorporating the newest test features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel signaling tester. This integration allows for support of LTE, FR1, FR2, IEEE 802.11be WLAN standard, and 5G RedCap.

EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be enhanced with the latest testing features of the R&S CMX500 all-in-one signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester provides a wide range of testing capabilities for devices, supporting LTE and 5G NR technologies up to 8 GHz in the FR1 frequency range and up to 50 GHz in the FR2 millimeter wave frequency range, including the latest 5G RedCap technology. It also supports non-cellular technologies such as Wi-Fi 7, all within a single instrument. Through this collaboration, EMITE's customers can now access a comprehensive environment for accurately evaluating the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices.

EMITE's upgraded OTA chambers are fully prepared to meet the demanding testing needs of both current and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the addition of test capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

The IEEE 802.11be standard, also known as Wi-Fi 7, is the upcoming generation of Wi-Fi technology that is designed to provide significantly faster data speeds than its predecessor, IEEE 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6/6E). With the capability to handle tens of gigabits of data per second and minimal delay, Wi-Fi 7 is aimed at meeting the increasing need for high-quality video streaming, as well as virtual reality and augmented reality experiences.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was introduced in 3GPP Release 17. It is a simpler and more cost-effective version of 5G compared to eMBB. RedCap offers medium data speeds, low energy usage, simple design, and the capability to connect to many devices, making it ideal for IoT applications.

As the CEO of EMITE, David A. Sánchez-Hernández expressed the company's dedication to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. He announced the exciting upgrade of their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, which will allow customers to expand their capabilities to include the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This partnership highlights EMITE's commitment to delivering advanced testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed his satisfaction in furthering the partnership with EMITE. By integrating their R&S CMX500 signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers portfolio, they can ensure that EMITE's customers can deploy their devices for the newest technologies with confidence. This collaboration ensures that products have undergone rigorous testing to meet the highest standards of reliability and efficiency.
