EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Collaborate to Support OTA Measurements on Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap: Integrating the Latest Test Capabilities for Enhanced Performance

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's OTA measurement solutions by incorporating the newest test features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel signaling tester. This integration allows for compliance with LTE, FR1, FR2, IEEE 802.11be, and 5G RedCap standards.

EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be used in conjunction with the cutting-edge testing capabilities of the R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester can test a variety of devices, supporting LTE, 5G NR FR1 up to 8 GHz, and FR2 millimeter wave frequency up to 50 GHz, including 5G RedCap technology. It also has the ability to test non-cellular technologies like Wi-Fi 7, all in one device. Through this partnership, EMITE's customers will have a comprehensive setup for accurately evaluating the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices.

EMITE's upgraded OTA chambers are fully prepared to meet the demanding testing needs of both current and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the integration of test capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

Wi-Fi 7, also known as IEEE 802.11be standard, is the upcoming Wi-Fi technology that aims to provide faster data speeds than its predecessor Wi-Fi 6/6E (IEEE 802.11ax). It can handle tens of gigabits of data per second with minimal delay, making it ideal for streaming high-quality videos and supporting virtual reality and augmented reality experiences.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was introduced in 3GPP Release 17. It is a simplified version of 5G that is more affordable than 5G eMBB. RedCap offers moderate data speeds, low energy consumption, simple design, and can connect to many devices, making it a popular choice for IoT uses.

David A. Sánchez-Hernández, the CEO of EMITE, expressed EMITE's dedication to providing high-quality testing chambers and ensuring customer satisfaction. He is thrilled to announce the upgrade of their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, which will allow customers to expand their capabilities to include the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This partnership highlights EMITE's commitment to delivering top-notch testing solutions that align with the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed satisfaction in taking the partnership with EMITE to a higher level. EMITE's clients can now use their devices for the newest technologies with confidence, as their products have undergone thorough testing to ensure they meet the highest standards of reliability and efficiency. This was made achievable through the incorporation of Rohde & Schwarz's proven R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers lineup.
