Advancing OTA Measurements: EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Collaborate on Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap Testing Solutions

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by incorporating the advanced test features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel signaling tester. This integration allows for support of LTE, FR1, FR2, IEEE 802.11be WLAN standard, and 5G RedCap.

EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be integrated with the cutting-edge testing features of the R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester provides a wide range of testing capabilities for devices, supporting LTE and 5G NR technologies in both the FR1 frequency range up to 8 GHz and the FR2 millimeter wave frequency range up to 50 GHz, including the latest 5G RedCap technology. It also supports non-cellular technologies like Wi-Fi 7, all within a single instrument. Through this partnership, EMITE's customers will have a comprehensive platform to accurately evaluate the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices.

EMITE's upgraded OTA chambers are completely prepared to meet the demanding testing needs of both current and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the integration of test capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

The upcoming Wi-Fi 7 standard, also known as IEEE 802.11be, is designed to provide faster data speeds and lower latency compared to its predecessor, Wi-Fi 6/6E (IEEE 802.11ax). With the capability to handle tens of gigabits of data per second, Wi-Fi 7 is aimed at meeting the increasing need for high-quality video streaming, virtual reality experiences, and augmented reality applications.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was introduced in 3GPP Release 17. It is a simplified version of 5G that is much more affordable than the enhanced mobile broadband version. RedCap is known for its moderate data speed, minimal power usage, simple design, and capability to connect to a large number of devices. This makes it a popular choice for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

David A. Sánchez-Hernández, the Chief Executive Officer of EMITE, expressed the company's dedication to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. EMITE is thrilled to enhance their testing chambers by incorporating the R&S CMX500, which will allow customers to expand their capabilities to incorporate the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This collaboration highlights EMITE's commitment to offering advanced testing solutions that align with the changing requirements of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed satisfaction in strengthening the partnership with EMITE. By integrating the R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers portfolio, customers can have confidence in deploying their devices for the newest technologies, as their products have undergone thorough testing to ensure they meet high standards of reliability and efficiency.
