Advancing OTA Measurements: EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Collaborate on Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap Testing Solutions

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by incorporating the advanced testing features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel one-box signaling tester. This integration allows for support of LTE, FR1, FR2, the latest WLAN standard IEEE 802.11be, and 5G RedCap.

EMITE has upgraded their over-the-air chambers by integrating them with the advanced testing features of the R&S CMX500 signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester can test a variety of devices, including those using LTE, 5G NR FR1 up to 8 GHz, and FR2 millimeter wave up to 50 GHz, along with the latest 5G RedCap technology. It also supports non-cellular technologies like Wi-Fi 7, all within one device. Through this collaboration, EMITE's customers can now assess the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices accurately in a comprehensive testing environment.

EMITE's upgraded OTA chambers are equipped to meet the demanding testing needs of both current and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves considering the incorporation of test capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

Wi-Fi 7, also known as the IEEE 802.11be standard, is the upcoming Wi-Fi technology that aims to provide even faster data speeds compared to Wi-Fi 6/6E. It is designed to handle large amounts of data at high speeds, making it ideal for activities such as ultra-high-definition video streaming and virtual reality experiences.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was introduced in 3GPP Release 17. It is a simplified version of 5G that is more affordable than 5G eMBB. RedCap offers moderate data speeds, uses less power, has simpler technology, and can connect to many devices. These features make it ideal for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

The CEO of EMITE, David A. Sánchez-Hernández, expressed his commitment to providing high-quality testing solutions and ensuring customer satisfaction. He announced the upgrade of their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, allowing customers to test the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This partnership highlights EMITE's dedication to meeting the changing needs of the telecommunications industry with superior testing capabilities.

Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed his excitement about advancing the partnership with EMITE. By integrating the R&S CMX500 signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers portfolio, customers can have confidence in deploying their devices for cutting-edge technologies, as their products have undergone thorough testing to ensure reliability and efficiency.
