Amphenol RF Expands Antenna Portfolio with Sealed IP67 External GPS/GNSS Antenna Featuring Low Noise Amplifier
Amphenol RF has added a new adhesive mount external GPS/GNSS antenna to its antenna lineup, specifically designed for outdoor use. This antenna features a sealed IP67 rating, providing better performance with a low noise amplifier.
Amphenol RF is excited to introduce a new external antenna design to their growing antenna collection. This antenna can be easily mounted using adhesive and is protected by a waterproof seal rated IP67 to prevent damage from external elements that could interfere with signal quality. The active GPS/GNSS antenna comes with a built-in low noise amplifier (LNA) for improved performance, making it perfect for applications where the receiver is near the antenna and in places with strong signal strength, like open areas with unobstructed views.
This kind of antenna can strengthen weak signals from satellites by enhancing signal quality and decreasing interference. They need an external power supply to power the built-in LNA and are not as affected by signal loss from longer cable distances because the amplification happens near the antenna. This external antenna comes with an SMA connector at the end of a 3-meter cable and is typically used in GPS, Glonass, navigation, location-based services, and fleet management systems.
This antenna is part of a wide range of external and internal IoT antennas that are currently on the market in different configurations to support popular wireless protocols like LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and LoRa. These ready-made products can be paired with other Amphenol RF connectors, adapters, and cable assemblies to form a complete solution.
