Amphenol RF Expands Antenna Portfolio with Sealed IP67 GPS/GNSS Antenna Featuring Low Noise Amplifier for Improved Performance
Amphenol RF has added a new external GPS/GNSS antenna with adhesive mount to its lineup. This antenna is designed for outdoor use and has sealed IP67 capabilities, providing better performance with a low noise amplifier.
Amphenol RF is excited to introduce a new external antenna design to their growing antenna collection. This antenna can be easily mounted with adhesive and offers waterproof protection with an IP67 rating against external elements that could interfere with signal quality. The active GPS/GNSS antenna comes with a built-in low noise amplifier (LNA) for improved performance, making it perfect for situations where the receiver is near the antenna and in locations with strong signal strength, like open areas with unobstructed views.
This specific antenna is designed to strengthen faint signals received from satellites by enhancing signal clarity and minimizing interference. It needs an external power supply to power the built-in LNA and is not as affected by signal weakening over longer cable distances because the amplification takes place near the antenna. The external antenna is equipped with an SMA connector at the end of a 3-meter cable and is typically utilized in GPS, Glonass, navigation, location-based services, and fleet management systems.
The antenna mentioned is part of a collection of external and internal IoT antennas that are currently on the market in different external and internal designs to support popular wireless communication protocols like LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and LoRa. These ready-made products can be paired with other Amphenol RF connectors, adapters, and cable assemblies to form a complete solution.
