Pickering Electronics Unveils New High Voltage Reed Relays at India EV Show 2024: Enhancing Performance in Electric Mobility Sector

Pickering Electronics will be showcasing their latest high voltage reed relays at the India EV Show 2024. Stop by booth #E01 at the event in Chennai, India on June 29th and 30th, 2024 to learn more.

Pickering Electronics, a top producer of high-quality reed relays, will be presenting its full selection of high voltage reed relays at booth #E01 during the India EV Show 2024. This includes their Series 219 surface mount reed relay and the 5kV version of their Series 104 reed relay. The event will be held on June 29th and 30th at Hall No. 3 in the Chennai Trade Centre in Chennai, India.

The 4th edition of the India EV Show, supported by the Government, is the largest trade show and technical conference in India for electric vehicles (EV). It aims to bring together startups and established companies in the electric mobility industry to encourage innovation and networking. The event is attended by industry leaders from various sectors such as automotive, charging solutions, battery technology, software development, MaaS, drivetrain, finance, and legislation, all working towards advancing collaboration and progress in the electric mobility sector. With over 5,000 visitors and 120 exhibitors, the show provides a great opportunity to learn about the future of EVs and India's role in global e-mobility.

Robert King, the Product Development Manager at Pickering Electronics, stated that Pickering offers a wide range of high-performance reed relays designed for high voltage applications. These relays can withstand voltages ranging from 1.5kV to 15kV and can switch voltages between 500V to 12.5kV at power levels of up to 200W. To cater to a variety of applications, these relays come in different shapes and contact configurations (such as 1 Form A, 2 Form A, 1 Form B, and 1 Form C) and can be mounted on PCBs, chassis, or connected using flying leads for high voltage connections.

The Series 219 HV SMD reed relay from Pickering is designed for testing EV charge points and can switch up to 1kV. It is unique as the only surface mount high voltage relay available in 2 Form A and 1 Form B packages. Different contact configurations come with coil voltages of 3V, 5V, or 12V, and can withstand stand-offs of up to 3kV, 2kV, and 1.5kV in the respective packages. The latest addition to the HV Series 104 family is a miniature SIL/SIP reed relay that can handle up to 5kV stand-off and 1.5kV switching. This is beneficial for compact designs, with the ability to stack at just 6.35mm. Despite its small size, the relay offers reliable performance for effective and safe high voltage switching or control operations.

During the exhibition, Pickering will showcase various reed relays from its high voltage collection, such as the Series 67 & 68 families. These relays have coil designs that do not require formers, making them more compact at dimensions of 58.4 x 12.6 x 14.5mm. The Series 67 relays offer PCB connections for both the switch and coil, with a power switch capability of up to 200W, which is the highest in Pickering's high voltage relay lineup. The Series 68 devices have PCB connections for the coil and flying leads for the switch, keeping high voltage isolated from the PCB. An optional electrostatic shield between the switch and coil helps reduce noise between the coil drive and high voltage circuits. Additionally, Pickering's Series 131 mini SIL HV reed relays are currently the smallest high voltage relays available in the industry.

Pickering's isolation relays for high voltage are well-suited for a variety of uses such as electric vehicles, premium cable testers, backplane testers, semiconductor testers, healthcare technology, solar power, large-scale physics experiments, in-circuit testing tools, and high voltage measuring devices.

At The India EV Show 2024, Pickering Group will be presenting their modular signal switching and sensor simulation technologies for electronic testing and verification. These technologies are developed by their division, Pickering Interfaces. Additionally, they will also be showcasing cables and connectors from their interconnect division, Pickering Connect.
