EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Collaborate to Enhance OTA Measurements for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap Devices

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's OTA measurement solutions by incorporating the advanced test features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology signaling tester. This integration not only supports LTE, FR1 and FR2, but also ensures compliance with the latest WLAN standard IEEE 802.11be and 5G RedCap.

EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be paired with the latest advanced testing capabilities of the R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester can test a wide variety of devices, including those using LTE, 5G NR FR1 (up to 8 GHz), and FR2 millimeter wave frequency (up to 50 GHz), as well as the newest 5G RedCap technology. It can also test non-cellular technologies like Wi-Fi 7, all in one device. Through this partnership, EMITE's customers can accurately evaluate the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices in a comprehensive testing environment.

EMITE's upgraded OTA chambers are equipped to meet the demanding testing needs of both current and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the integration of test capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

The Wi-Fi 7, also known as IEEE 802.11be standard, is the upcoming technology in Wi-Fi that aims to provide even higher data speeds than Wi-Fi 6/6E (IEEE 802.11ax). It is designed to handle large amounts of data at speeds of tens of gigabits per second with minimal delay, catering to the increasing need for high-quality video streaming, virtual reality, and augmented reality experiences.

RedCap is a type of technology that falls under the 5G standard set in 3GPP Release 17. It is a more simplified version of 5G that is cheaper than 5G eMBB. RedCap offers moderate data speeds, uses less power, has simpler technology, and can connect to a high number of devices. Because of these features, it is ideal for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

David A. Sánchez-Hernández, the CEO of EMITE, expressed that the company prioritizes quality and ensuring customer satisfaction. He announced that they are looking forward to enhancing their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500 technology, which will allow customers to test the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This partnership highlights EMITE's commitment to providing top-notch testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed his excitement about strengthening the partnership with EMITE. By incorporating Rohde & Schwarz's R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers portfolio, customers can have confidence that their devices have been thoroughly tested to meet top standards of reliability and efficiency. This collaboration ensures that devices are well-equipped for the latest technologies.
