EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Collaborate to Support OTA Measurements for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap Devices
EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by incorporating the latest test features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel signaling tester. This integration not only supports LTE, FR1, and FR2, but also ensures compliance with the advanced WLAN standard IEEE 802.11be and 5G RedCap.
EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be integrated with the latest advanced testing features of the R&S CMX500 all-in-one signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester provides a wide range of capabilities for testing devices, supporting cellular technologies like LTE, 5G NR FR1 up to 8 GHz, and FR2 millimeter wave up to 50 GHz, including the newest 5G RedCap technology. It also supports non-cellular technologies such as Wi-Fi 7, all within a single instrument. Through this collaboration, EMITE's customers will have a comprehensive setup for accurately evaluating the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices.
EMITE's advanced OTA chambers are fully prepared to meet the demanding testing needs of both current and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the integration of test capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.
The upcoming Wi-Fi 7, also known as IEEE 802.11be standard, is being developed to provide much higher data speeds compared to the current Wi-Fi 6/6E (IEEE 802.11ax). It aims to support data rates of tens of gigabits per second with minimal delay, in order to cater to the increasing need for ultra-high-definition video streaming, as well as virtual reality and augmented reality experiences.
RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was introduced in 3GPP Release 17. It is a simplified version of 5G that is more affordable than 5G eMBB. RedCap offers moderate data speeds, uses less power, has simpler technology, and can handle a large amount of devices. Because of these features, RedCap is ideal for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.
The CEO of EMITE, David A. Sánchez-Hernández, expressed the company's commitment to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. EMITE is thrilled to enhance their testing chambers by incorporating the R&S CMX500 technology, which will allow their customers to test devices based on the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This collaboration highlights EMITE's dedication to offering top-notch testing solutions that cater to the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.
Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed his excitement about the enhanced partnership with EMITE. By integrating Rohde & Schwarz's R&S CMX500 signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers, customers can have confidence in deploying their devices for cutting-edge technologies. This collaboration ensures that products undergo rigorous testing to meet top standards of reliability and efficiency.
