EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Collaborate to Support OTA Measurements for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap Devices

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by integrating the latest test features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology signaling tester. This integration allows for support of LTE, FR1, FR2, IEEE 802.11be WLAN standard, and 5G RedCap.

EMITE has enhanced its state-of-the-art over-the-air chambers by integrating them with the advanced testing capabilities of the R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester can test a wide range of devices, including those using LTE, 5G NR FR1 up to 8 GHz, and FR2 millimeter wave frequency up to 50 GHz, along with the latest 5G RedCap technology. It also supports non-cellular technologies like Wi-Fi 7, all within one instrument. Through this partnership, EMITE's customers now have a comprehensive solution for accurately evaluating the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices.

EMITE's upgraded OTA chambers are fully prepared to meet the demanding testing needs of both present and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the integration of test features for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

Wi-Fi 7, also known as IEEE 802.11be, is the upcoming standard for Wi-Fi technology that aims to provide much faster data speeds than the current Wi-Fi 6/6E (IEEE 802.11ax). It is designed to support high data throughput, reaching speeds of tens of gigabits per second, with minimal delay. This technology is ideal for meeting the increasing need for streaming ultra-high-definition videos and supporting immersive virtual reality and augmented reality experiences.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was introduced in 3GPP Release 17. It is a more simplified version of 5G that is much cheaper than 5G eMBB. RedCap offers moderate data speeds, uses less power, has simpler technology, and can connect to a large number of devices. Because of these features, it is well-suited for IoT applications.

The CEO of EMITE, David A. Sánchez-Hernández, expressed the company's dedication to quality and ensuring customer satisfaction. He announced the upgrade of their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, allowing customers to test the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This partnership highlights EMITE's commitment to providing advanced testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who is the Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed his excitement about taking their partnership with EMITE to a higher level. By integrating Rohde & Schwarz's R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers portfolio, customers can have confidence in deploying their devices with the latest technologies. This collaboration ensures that products have undergone rigorous testing to meet the highest standards of reliability and efficiency.
