EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Collaborate to Support OTA Measurements for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap: Integrating the Latest Testing Capabilities for Enhanced Performance

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by integrating the newest test features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel signaling tester. This integration allows for support of LTE, FR1, FR2, IEEE 802.11be WLAN standard, and 5G RedCap.

EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be used together with the latest testing features of the R&S CMX500 signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester provides a wide range of device testing capabilities for cellular technologies like LTE and 5G, with frequencies up to 8 GHz and 50 GHz for millimeter wave technology. It also supports non-cellular technologies like Wi-Fi 7, all in one instrument. Through this partnership, EMITE's customers can effectively evaluate the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices.

The enhanced OTA chambers by EMITE are equipped to meet the demanding testing needs of both current and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the integration of test capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

Wi-Fi 7, also known as the IEEE 802.11be standard, is the upcoming Wi-Fi technology that offers significantly faster data speeds compared to Wi-Fi 6/6E (IEEE 802.11ax). With the capability to handle tens of gigabits of data per second and minimal delays, Wi-Fi 7 is designed to meet the increasing need for high-quality video streaming and advanced virtual reality and augmented reality experiences.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was introduced in 3GPP Release 17. It is a more basic version of 5G that is much cheaper than the enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB) version. RedCap offers moderate data speeds, uses less power, is simpler in design, and can connect to a large number of devices. Because of these qualities, it is well-suited for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

David A. Sánchez-Hernández, the CEO of EMITE, expressed the company's dedication to providing high-quality products and satisfying customers. They are enthusiastic about enhancing their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, which will allow customers to test devices that comply with the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This collaboration highlights EMITE's commitment to offering advanced testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed his satisfaction in advancing their partnership with EMITE. By integrating the reliable R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers, customers can now deploy their devices for cutting-edge technologies with confidence, as their products have undergone thorough testing to ensure they meet the highest standards of reliability and efficiency.
