EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Collaborate to Support OTA Measurements on Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap: Enhancing Testing Solutions for Next-Generation Wireless Technologies

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by incorporating the advanced test features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel signaling tester. This integration allows for support of LTE, FR1, FR2, IEEE 802.11be WLAN standard, and 5G RedCap.

EMITE has advanced over-the-air chambers that can now be used in conjunction with the latest testing capabilities of the R&S CMX500 signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester can test a variety of devices, including those using LTE, 5G NR in both FR1 and FR2 frequency ranges, and the newest 5G RedCap technology. It also supports non-cellular technologies like Wi-Fi 7, all in one device. Through this partnership, EMITE's customers can accurately evaluate the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices in a comprehensive testing environment.

EMITE's improved over-the-air chambers are fully prepared to meet the demanding testing needs of both current and upcoming wireless technologies. The next stage of their partnership involves incorporating test capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

Wi-Fi 7, also known as the IEEE 802.11be standard, is the upcoming Wi-Fi technology that is designed to provide significantly faster data speeds compared to Wi-Fi 6/6E (IEEE 802.11ax). This new generation of Wi-Fi can handle tens of gigabits of data per second with minimal delay, catering to the increasing need for high-quality video streaming, virtual reality, and augmented reality experiences.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology that is specified in 3GPP Release 17. It is a simplified version of 5G that is much more affordable than 5G eMBB. RedCap is known for its moderate data speeds, minimal power usage, simple design, and capability to connect to many devices. These features make it a popular choice for Internet of Things (IoT) uses.

David A. Sánchez-Hernández, the CEO of EMITE, expressed the company's dedication to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. He announced the upgrade of their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, which will allow customers to test devices that support the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This partnership highlights EMITE's commitment to delivering advanced testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed his satisfaction with the enhanced partnership with EMITE. By incorporating the R&S CMX500 signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers, customers can have assurance that their devices have undergone thorough testing to ensure they meet top standards in reliability and efficiency for the latest technologies.
