EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Collaboration Elevates OTA Measurements for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap Technology

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by incorporating the advanced test features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel signaling tester. This integration allows for support of LTE, FR1, FR2, the latest WLAN standard IEEE 802.11be, and 5G RedCap.

EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be used alongside the R&S CMX500 signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz, which offers a variety of testing capabilities for cellular technologies like LTE and 5G NR. The tester can support frequencies up to 8 GHz in the FR1 range and up to 50 GHz in the FR2 millimeter wave range, including the latest 5G RedCap technology. It also has the ability to test non-cellular technologies such as Wi-Fi 7. This collaboration allows EMITE's customers to accurately evaluate the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices in a comprehensive testing environment.

EMITE's upgraded OTA chambers are completely prepared to meet the demanding testing needs of both present and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the integration of test capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

The Wi-Fi 7 standard, also known as IEEE 802.11be, is the upcoming generation of Wi-Fi technology that focuses on providing very high data speeds beyond what Wi-Fi 6/6E (IEEE 802.11ax) offers. It aims to support tens of gigabits per second data transfer rates with minimal delays, catering to the increasing need for high-quality video streaming, virtual reality, and augmented reality experiences.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was established in 3GPP Release 17. It is a more basic form of 5G that is much cheaper than 5G eMBB. RedCap is known for its moderate data speeds, minimal energy usage, simplicity, and capacity to accommodate numerous devices. These features make it a popular choice for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

David A. Sánchez-Hernández, the CEO of EMITE, expressed the company's dedication to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. He announced their excitement about upgrading their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, which will allow customers to test devices compliant with the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This collaboration highlights EMITE's commitment to offering advanced testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed his satisfaction in taking the partnership with EMITE to new heights. This collaboration ensures that EMITE's customers can have full confidence in deploying their devices for cutting-edge technologies, as their products have undergone thorough testing to meet top standards of reliability and efficiency. This was achieved by integrating Rohde & Schwarz's R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers portfolio.
