EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Collaboration Enhances OTA Measurement Capabilities for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap Devices
EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by incorporating the advanced test features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel one-box signaling tester. This integration will not only support LTE, FR1, and FR2, but also ensure compliance with the latest WLAN standard IEEE 802.11be and 5G RedCap.
EMITE's advanced over-the-air testing chambers can now be used in conjunction with the cutting-edge testing capabilities of the R&S CMX500 signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester can test a variety of devices, including those using LTE, 5G NR in both the FR1 and FR2 frequency ranges, and the latest 5G RedCap technology. It also supports non-cellular technologies like Wi-Fi 7, all within a single instrument. This collaboration allows EMITE's customers to accurately evaluate the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices in a comprehensive testing environment.
The advanced OTA chambers by EMITE can effectively meet the testing needs of both current and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the integration of test features for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.
Wi-Fi 7, also known as IEEE 802.11be standard, is the upcoming Wi-Fi technology that offers significantly higher data speeds compared to Wi-Fi 6/6E (IEEE 802.11ax). With the capability to handle tens of gigabits per second and minimal delay, Wi-Fi 7 caters to the increasing need for ultra-high-definition video streaming, immersive virtual reality, and augmented reality experiences.
RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was introduced in 3GPP Release 17. It is a simplified version of 5G that is much more affordable than 5G eMBB. RedCap offers moderate data speeds, uses less power, has simpler technology, and can connect to a large number of devices. Because of these features, it is a popular choice for IoT applications.
The CEO of EMITE, David A. Sánchez-Hernández, expressed the company's dedication to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. EMITE is thrilled to enhance its testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, which will allow customers to incorporate the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices into their testing capabilities. This collaboration highlights EMITE's commitment to delivering advanced testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.
Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed satisfaction with the enhanced partnership with EMITE. By integrating the R&S CMX500 signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers portfolio, customers can ensure their devices meet high standards of reliability and efficiency for the latest technologies. This collaboration will benefit EMITE's customers by providing rigorously tested products for deployment.
