EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Elevate OTA Measurements with Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap Integration

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by incorporating the newest testing features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel one-box signaling tester. This integration allows for support of LTE, FR1, and FR2, as well as compliance with the latest WLAN standard IEEE 802.11be and 5G RedCap.

EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be paired with the cutting-edge testing capabilities of the R&S CMX500 signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester can test a variety of devices, including those using LTE, 5G NR up to 8 GHz, and millimeter wave frequencies up to 50 GHz, along with the latest 5G RedCap technology. It also has the ability to test non-cellular technologies like Wi-Fi 7, all within one device. This collaboration provides EMITE's customers with a comprehensive solution for accurately evaluating the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices.

EMITE's advanced OTA chambers are well-equipped to meet the demanding testing needs of both existing and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the integration of test capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

The Wi-Fi 7 standard, also known as IEEE 802.11be, is the upcoming generation of Wi-Fi technology that is built for handling very high data speeds, surpassing the current Wi-Fi 6/6E standard (IEEE 802.11ax). It can support data rates of tens of gigabits per second and has low latency, making it ideal for streaming ultra-high-definition videos and for applications like virtual reality and augmented reality that require immersive experiences.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was introduced in 3GPP Release 17. It is a simplified version of 5G that is more affordable than 5G eMBB. RedCap offers moderate data speeds, consumes less power, has simpler technology, and can connect to a large number of devices. These features make it ideal for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

The CEO of EMITE, David A. Sánchez-Hernández, expressed the company's dedication to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. He announced the upgrade of their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, which will allow customers to test devices based on the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This partnership highlights EMITE's commitment to offering advanced testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed his satisfaction with the enhanced partnership between his company and EMITE. This collaboration allows EMITE's clients to confidently use their devices with the latest technologies, as their products undergo thorough testing to ensure they meet the highest reliability and efficiency standards. This is made possible by integrating Rohde & Schwarz's proven R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers portfolio.
