EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Partner to Elevate OTA Measurements for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap Technology

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by incorporating the advanced test features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel signaling tester. This integration not only supports LTE, FR1, and FR2, but also ensures compliance with the latest WLAN standard IEEE 802.11be and 5G RedCap.

EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be integrated with the latest advanced testing features of the R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester offers a wide range of device testing capabilities, supporting cellular technologies like LTE, 5G NR in the FR1 frequency range up to 8 GHz, and FR2 millimeter wave frequency range up to 50 GHz, including the newest 5G RedCap technology. It also supports non-cellular technologies, including the latest Wi-Fi 7, all in one instrument. Through this collaboration, EMITE's customers have access to a comprehensive environment for accurately evaluating the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices.

EMITE's advanced OTA chambers are well-equipped to meet the demanding testing needs of both current and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the incorporation of test capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

Wi-Fi 7, also known as the IEEE 802.11be standard, is the upcoming Wi-Fi technology that offers significantly higher data speeds compared to Wi-Fi 6/6E (IEEE 802.11ax). It can achieve speeds of tens of gigabits per second with minimal delays, making it ideal for streaming high-definition videos and using virtual reality and augmented reality applications.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was established in 3GPP Release 17. It is a simplified version of 5G that is much more affordable than 5G eMBB. RedCap is known for its medium data speed, minimal energy usage, simple design, and capacity to handle many devices. These qualities make it an appealing choice for IoT uses.

The CEO of EMITE, David A. Sánchez-Hernández, stated that EMITE is dedicated to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. He expressed excitement about upgrading their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, which will allow customers to test devices according to the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This collaboration demonstrates EMITE's commitment to offering advanced testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who is the Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed his excitement about taking their partnership with EMITE to the next stage. By integrating Rohde & Schwarz's R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers portfolio, customers can have confidence in deploying their devices for cutting-edge technologies. This collaboration ensures that products have undergone rigorous testing to meet top standards of reliability and efficiency.
