EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Partner to Enhance OTA Measurements for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap Devices

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by incorporating the advanced test features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel signaling tester. This integration allows for LTE, FR1, FR2, IEEE 802.11be, and 5G RedCap compliance in OTA measurements.

EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be used in conjunction with the latest testing capabilities of the R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester can test a wide variety of devices, including those using LTE, 5G NR FR1 technology up to 8 GHz, and FR2 millimeter wave technology up to 50 GHz, as well as the latest 5G RedCap technology. It also supports non-cellular technologies like Wi-Fi 7, all within a single instrument. Through this partnership, customers of EMITE can now accurately assess the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices in a comprehensive testing environment.

EMITE's upgraded OTA chambers are fully prepared to meet the demanding testing needs of both existing and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the integration of test capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

The upcoming Wi-Fi 7, also known as IEEE 802.11be standard, is being developed to provide significantly faster data speeds compared to the current Wi-Fi 6/6E (IEEE 802.11ax). With the capability of handling tens of gigabits per second and minimal delay, Wi-Fi 7 aims to meet the increasing need for high-quality video streaming, virtual reality experiences, and augmented reality applications.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology outlined in the 3GPP Release 17. It is a simplified version of 5G that is more affordable than 5G eMBB. RedCap offers moderate data speeds, consumes less power, has simpler technology, and can handle a high volume of devices. These features make it a popular choice for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

David A. Sánchez-Hernández, the CEO of EMITE, expressed the company's dedication to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. He announced the upgrade of their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, which will allow customers to test devices according to the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This partnership reflects EMITE's commitment to offering advanced testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed his satisfaction in deepening the partnership with EMITE. This collaboration will enable EMITE's customers to confidently use their devices for cutting-edge technologies, as their products have undergone thorough testing to ensure they meet the highest standards of reliability and efficiency. This was achieved through the integration of Rohde & Schwarz's proven R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers portfolio.
