EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Partner to Enhance OTA Measurements for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap Technology

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by incorporating the advanced test features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel signaling tester. This integration allows for support of LTE, FR1, FR2, IEEE 802.11be WLAN standard, and 5G RedCap.

EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be used with the newest testing features of the R&S CMX500 signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This tester can test a variety of devices, including those using LTE, 5G NR frequencies up to 8 GHz, and millimeter wave frequencies up to 50 GHz, including the latest 5G RedCap technology. It also supports non-cellular technologies like Wi-Fi 7, all within one instrument. Through this partnership, EMITE's customers can accurately evaluate the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices.

EMITE's upgraded OTA chambers are fully prepared to meet the demanding testing needs of both current and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the integration of test capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

Wi-Fi 7, also known as the IEEE 802.11be standard, represents the latest advancement in Wi-Fi technology. It is specifically engineered to achieve significantly higher data speeds than its predecessor, Wi-Fi 6/6E (IEEE 802.11ax). With the capability to handle tens of gigabits per second and minimal delay, Wi-Fi 7 caters to the increasing need for streaming ultra-high-definition videos, as well as supporting virtual reality and augmented reality experiences.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was introduced in 3GPP Release 17. It is a simpler and more affordable version of 5G that offers mid-level data speeds, low energy usage, and the ability to connect to a large number of devices. These features make it a popular choice for IoT applications.

As the CEO of EMITE, David A. Sánchez-Hernández expressed the company's dedication to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. He announced the upgrade of their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, which will allow customers to test devices according to the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This partnership showcases EMITE's commitment to offering advanced testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, a high-ranking executive at Rohde & Schwarz in charge of Mobile Radio Testers, expressed excitement about the deepening partnership with EMITE. By integrating Rohde & Schwarz's R&S CMX500 signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers portfolio, customers can have confidence that their devices have undergone rigorous testing to ensure they meet the highest standards of performance and reliability for the latest technologies.
