EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Partner to Support OTA Measurements for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap: A Comprehensive Testing Solution for Next-Generation Wireless Technologies
EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's OTA measurement solutions by incorporating the newest test features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology signaling tester. This integration will not only support LTE, FR1, and FR2, but also ensure compliance with the latest WLAN standard IEEE 802.11be and 5G RedCap.
EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be used with the latest testing features of the R&S CMX500 signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester can test a wide range of devices, including LTE and 5G technologies up to 8 GHz and 50 GHz respectively, as well as the latest 5G RedCap technology. It also supports non-cellular technologies like Wi-Fi 7, all in one device. Through this collaboration, EMITE's customers can accurately assess the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices in a comprehensive testing environment.
EMITE's advanced OTA chambers are equipped to meet the demanding testing needs of both current and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the integration of test capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.
Wi-Fi 7, also known as IEEE 802.11be, is the upcoming standard for Wi-Fi technology that aims to provide much higher data speeds compared to Wi-Fi 6/6E (IEEE 802.11ax). It is designed to support data rates in the tens of gigabits per second range and offers low latency, making it ideal for high-quality video streaming, virtual reality, and augmented reality experiences that require high bandwidth.
RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was introduced in 3GPP Release 17. It offers a more affordable option compared to full 5G eMBB, with mid-range data speeds, low power usage, simple design, and the ability to connect to many devices. These features make it a popular choice for IoT uses.
The CEO of EMITE, David A. Sánchez-Hernández, expressed the company's dedication to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. He announced the upgrade of their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, which will allow customers to test the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This partnership highlights EMITE's commitment to offering advanced testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.
Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed his excitement about advancing the partnership with EMITE. By integrating the R&S CMX500 signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers portfolio, customers can have confidence in deploying their devices for new technologies, as they have been thoroughly tested to meet strict standards of reliability and efficiency.
