EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Revolutionize OTA Measurements with Support for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap Technology

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions. They are integrating the latest test capabilities of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel one-box signaling tester to support LTE, FR1, FR2, IEEE 802.11be WLAN standard, and 5G RedCap.

EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be integrated with the latest advanced testing capabilities of the R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester offers a wide range of testing features for devices, including support for LTE, 5G NR FR1 up to 8 GHz, and FR2 millimeter wave frequency up to 50 GHz, along with the latest 5G RedCap technology. It also supports non-cellular technologies, such as Wi-Fi 7, all within a single instrument. This collaboration provides EMITE's customers with a comprehensive solution for accurately evaluating the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices.

EMITE's upgraded OTA chambers have all the necessary equipment to meet the demanding testing needs of both present and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves considering adding test capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

Wi-Fi 7, also known as IEEE 802.11be standard, is the upcoming Wi-Fi technology that is designed to provide extremely high data speeds exceeding its predecessor, Wi-Fi 6/6E (IEEE 802.11ax). With the capability to handle tens of gigabits per second and minimal delay, Wi-Fi 7 is aimed at meeting the increasing need for ultra-high-definition video streaming, as well as applications like virtual reality and augmented reality.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was introduced in 3GPP Release 17. It is a simplified version of 5G that is more affordable than 5G eMBB. RedCap has medium data speed, uses less power, has simpler technology, and can connect to many devices. This makes it a popular choice for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

The CEO of EMITE, David A. Sánchez-Hernández, expressed that EMITE prioritizes quality and ensuring customer satisfaction. As a result, EMITE is thrilled to enhance their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, which will allow customers to expand their capabilities to include the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This partnership highlights EMITE's commitment to providing advanced testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed his satisfaction with the strengthened partnership with EMITE. By incorporating the R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers portfolio, customers can have assurance that their devices have undergone thorough testing to ensure they meet the highest standards of reliability and efficiency for the latest technologies.
