EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Revolutionize OTA Measurements with Support for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap Technology

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz have partnered to improve OTA measurement solutions by incorporating the advanced test features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology signaling tester. This integration allows for support of LTE, FR1, FR2, IEEE 802.11be, and 5G RedCap standards on EMITE's OTA measurement solutions.

EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be used in conjunction with the advanced testing capabilities of the R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester can test a variety of devices, including those using LTE, 5G NR FR1 up to 8 GHz, FR2 millimeter wave up to 50 GHz, and the latest 5G RedCap technology. It also supports non-cellular technologies like Wi-Fi 7, all within one instrument. This collaboration allows EMITE's customers to accurately assess the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices in a comprehensive testing environment.

EMITE's upgraded OTA chambers are fully prepared to meet the demanding testing needs of both current and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the integration of test capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

The upcoming Wi-Fi 7, also known as IEEE 802.11be standard, offers faster data speeds and lower latency compared to Wi-Fi 6/6E (IEEE 802.11ax). It is designed to support high data throughput, providing tens of gigabits per second, to meet the increasing need for ultra-high-definition video streaming and immersive virtual reality and augmented reality experiences.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was established in 3GPP Release 17. It is a simplified version of 5G that is more affordable than 5G eMBB. RedCap offers moderate data speeds, consumes less power, has simpler technology, and can handle a high volume of devices. These features make it ideal for IoT applications.

The CEO of EMITE, David A. Sánchez-Hernández, expressed the company's dedication to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. He announced the upgrade of their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, which will allow customers to test devices that comply with the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This partnership highlights EMITE's commitment to offering advanced testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who is the Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed his excitement about advancing their partnership with EMITE. By integrating Rohde & Schwarz's R&S CMX500 signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers, customers can have confidence in the reliability and efficiency of their devices for new technologies. This collaboration ensures that products have undergone thorough testing to meet top standards.
