EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Revolutionize OTA Measurements with Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap Integration

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are partnering to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by incorporating the advanced test features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel signaling tester. This integration allows for support of LTE, FR1, FR2, IEEE 802.11be WLAN standard, and 5G RedCap.

EMITE's cutting-edge over-the-air chambers can now be integrated with the advanced testing capabilities of the R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester can test a wide range of devices, supporting cellular technologies like LTE, 5G NR FR1 up to 8 GHz and FR2 millimeter wave frequency up to 50 GHz, including the latest 5G RedCap technology. It also supports non-cellular technologies such as Wi-Fi 7, all within one instrument. Through this partnership, EMITE's clients can benefit from a comprehensive setup to accurately evaluate the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices.

EMITE's upgraded OTA chambers are fully prepared to conduct the demanding tests needed for both existing and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of their partnership involves exploring the integration of test features for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

The upcoming Wi-Fi technology known as IEEE 802.11be, also called Wi-Fi 7, is being developed to provide faster data speeds than the current Wi-Fi 6/6E standard (IEEE 802.11ax). With the ability to transfer tens of gigabits of data per second and reduce delay, Wi-Fi 7 is intended to meet the increasing need for high-quality video streaming, virtual reality experiences, and augmented reality applications.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology that is outlined in the 3GPP Release 17. It is a simplified version of 5G that is much cheaper than 5G eMBB. RedCap is known for its moderate data speeds, low energy usage, simple design, and the ability to connect to many devices. These features make it a popular choice for IoT applications.

David A. Sánchez-Hernández, the CEO of EMITE, expressed a strong commitment to delivering high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. He announced that EMITE is enhancing its testing chambers by incorporating the R&S CMX500 technology, which will allow customers to test devices based on the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This partnership highlights EMITE's focus on providing advanced testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed his excitement about advancing the partnership with EMITE. By integrating the R&S CMX500 signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers, customers can ensure their devices are thoroughly tested for reliability and efficiency, allowing them to confidently deploy their products for the latest technologies.
