EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Revolutionize OTA Measurements with Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap Integration

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by incorporating the latest test features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel signaling tester. This integration not only supports LTE, FR1, and FR2, but also ensures compliance with the advanced WLAN standard IEEE 802.11be and 5G RedCap.

EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be used in conjunction with the latest testing capabilities of the R&S CMX500 signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester allows for testing of various devices, including LTE, 5G NR in the FR1 frequency range up to 8 GHz, and FR2 millimeter wave frequency range up to 50 GHz, with support for the latest 5G RedCap technology. It also accommodates non-cellular technologies like Wi-Fi 7, all within a single instrument. Through this partnership, EMITE's customers have access to a comprehensive environment for accurately evaluating the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices.

The advanced OTA chambers from EMITE are fully prepared to meet the demanding testing needs of both existing and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the integration of testing capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

The upcoming IEEE 802.11be standard, also known as Wi-Fi 7, is the latest advancement in Wi-Fi technology. It is designed to provide significantly higher data speeds compared to its predecessor, IEEE 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6/6E). With the capability to handle tens of gigabits of data per second and offering low latency, Wi-Fi 7 is aimed at meeting the increasing need for ultra-high-definition video streaming, as well as applications like virtual reality and augmented reality.

RedCap is a type of technology that falls under the 5G category, as outlined in 3GPP Release 17. It is a more affordable option compared to full 5G for enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB). RedCap offers medium data speeds, uses less power, has simpler technology, and can connect to many devices. Because of these features, it is well-suited for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

As the CEO of EMITE, David A. Sánchez-Hernández expressed the company's dedication to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. He announced that EMITE will be enhancing their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, allowing customers to test the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This collaboration highlights EMITE's commitment to offering advanced testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed his satisfaction with the enhanced partnership between Rohde & Schwarz and EMITE. By integrating the R&S CMX500 signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers portfolio, customers can now deploy their devices with confidence, knowing that they have been thoroughly tested to meet the highest standards of reliability and efficiency for the latest technologies.
