Empowering the Future of Electric Mobility: ASDC & SIDBI Launch ‘Nayi Raah’ Initiative for Underprivileged Individuals in the EV Sector

ASDC and SIDBI have collaborated to introduce a groundbreaking initiative called "Nayi Raah" to empower underprivileged individuals in the EV sector. The Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC) launched this program at The Kingdom College in Bangalore, with the aim of training 250 individuals to become Electric Vehicle Service Technicians (EVST). The initiative, funded by the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), seeks to provide the necessary skills for these individuals to succeed in the growing EV industry.

The electric vehicle sector in India is expected to experience substantial expansion due to advancements in technology and a rising demand for environmentally friendly transportation options. In response to this opportunity, ASDC has developed the "Nayi Raah" program to meet the growing demand for skilled EV technicians in the industry. This program will offer thorough training in maintenance, repair, and servicing of electric vehicles, preparing participants with the necessary technical expertise and practical skills to succeed in this fast-paced field.

FR Singhvi, the President of ASDC, stated that Nayi Raah is an important initiative in developing a workforce with the necessary skills to support India's shift towards electric mobility. By providing specialized training, individuals are empowered to fill the skills gap and find meaningful employment in the EV industry. After completing their training, all participants will undergo further training at TATA bus depots and will be hired at one of the 8 depots in Bangalore, giving them practical experience and job opportunities in the growing EV sector of the city.

Mr. Srinivas Dhanankar, who is the GM Head of Tenders and Purchase at Tata Motors, stated that Tata Motors believes in equipping the future workforce with the necessary skills to adapt to the changing electric mobility industry. He expressed pride in supporting the 'Nayi Raah' initiative, which is in line with the company's dedication to sustainability and community growth. The training provided at Tata Motors' bus depots will give participants practical experience that will help them succeed in their careers in the electric vehicle sector.

Sandeep Varma, the CEO of CGTMSE and in charge of the Development and Impact Programs at SIDBI, expressed his views on the initiative. He emphasized SIDBI's belief in the importance of skill development and highlighted the 'Nayi Raah' initiative as a way to support inclusive growth by equipping disadvantaged individuals with the necessary skills to succeed in the changing EV sector. He also pointed out the significance of collaborative efforts in promoting sustainable development and generating valuable employment opportunities.

FR Singhvi stated that the future of transportation is in electric vehicles, and it is important to have trained technicians to help facilitate this shift. The goal of the 'Nayi Raah' program is to empower people from various backgrounds to play a meaningful role in the electric vehicle industry, promoting sustainability and boosting global competitiveness.
