Enhancing Electronic Detonation Systems Performance with Vishay’s TANTAMOUNT Solid Tantalum Chip Capacitors
Vishay's solid tantalum chip capacitors improve the performance of electronic detonation systems. TANTAMOUNT devices have a strong design and low 0.005CV DCL, and undergo rigorous testing to ensure reliable detonation in tough conditions.
Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has unveiled a new range of surface-mount solid tantalum molded chip capacitors called TANTAMOUNT, which are tailored for electronic detonation systems. The TX3 series capacitors from Vishay Sprague are designed with a strong mechanical structure, low leakage current, and rigorous testing standards to provide improved performance and reliability compared to standard tantalum capacitors and MLCCs.
The capacitors released today have low DCL values of 0.005CV and a high energy density compared to other types of capacitors. This allows them to provide more energy for reliable ignition, making them well-suited for remote detonation systems in mining and demolition. The use of tantalum anode technology and Vishay's top-quality dielectric formation ensures stable electrical performance even in rugged conditions.
In order to guarantee dependability, TX3 series capacitors undergo more rigorous testing compared to standard commercial capacitors. Each capacitor is subjected to 100% surge current testing using standard methods, as well as two additional screenings to ensure consistent electrical characteristics across different production lots. The capacitors are designed with a durable hard plastic resin encapsulation for added protection. They have higher shock (100 g) and vibration (20 g) resistance compared to MLCCs, meeting MIL-STD-202 standards.
The TX3 series is available in two case sizes, B (EIA 3528-21) and C (EIA 6032-28), and offers a capacitance range of 10 µF to 100 µF. The voltage ratings range from 16 V to 25 V and the capacitance tolerance can be as low as ± 10%. These devices have ESR values between 0.700 Ω and 2.3 Ω at +25 °C, a ripple current of up to 0.438 A, and can operate at temperatures up to +125 °C. The TX3 series devices have lead (Pb)-free terminations, are RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and are considered Vishay Green.
You can now get samples and bulk quantities of the latest solid tantalum capacitors, with a waiting time of 10 to 12 weeks. Contact your nearby Vishay representative for information on pricing.
