Enhancing Electronic Detonation Systems with Vishay’s TANTAMOUNT Solid Tantalum Chip Capacitors
Vishay's solid tantalum chip capacitors improve the performance of electronic detonation systems. The TANTAMOUNT devices have a strong design, low 0.005CV DCL, and undergo strict testing to guarantee dependable detonation in tough conditions.
Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has released a new line of TANTAMOUNT surface-mount solid tantalum molded chip capacitors that are tailored for electronic detonation systems. The Vishay Sprague TX3 series capacitors have a strong mechanical design, low leakage current, and undergo rigorous testing to ensure superior performance and reliability compared to regular tantalum capacitors and MLCCs.
The capacitors released today have low DCL values of 0.005CV and a high energy density compared to other types of capacitors. This allows them to deliver more energy for proper ignition, making them well-suited for remote detonation systems in mining and demolition. The use of tantalum anode technology and Vishay's high-quality dielectric formation ensures consistent electrical performance in challenging conditions.
In order to guarantee dependability, TX3 series capacitors undergo more thorough testing compared to regular commercial options. Each capacitor is subjected to 100% surge current testing using standard methods, as well as two additional screenings to ensure consistent electrical characteristics across different production batches. These capacitors are made durable with a hard plastic resin encapsulating the capacitive element and lead frame. Unlike MLCCs, they have higher tolerance for shock (100 g) and vibration (20 g) as per MIL-STD-202 guidelines.
The TX3 series is available in two different case sizes, B and C, and offers a capacitance range of 10 µF to 100 µF with voltage ratings between 16 V and 25 V. The capacitance tolerance can go as low as ± 10%. These devices have ESR values ranging from 0.700 Ω to 2.3 Ω at +25 °C, a ripple current up to 0.438 A, and can operate at high temperatures up to +125 °C. The TX3 series features lead (Pb)-free terminations, making them RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and part of the Vishay Green initiative.
You can now request samples and order small quantities of the recently released solid tantalum capacitors. The waiting time for delivery is around 10 to 12 weeks. To inquire about pricing, reach out to a Vishay representative in your area.
