Enhancing OTA Measurements for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap: EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Collaborate for Cutting-Edge Testing Solutions

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by incorporating the advanced test features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel signaling tester. This integration will not only support LTE, FR1, and FR2, but also ensure compliance with the latest WLAN standard IEEE 802.11be and 5G RedCap.

EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be integrated with the latest testing features of the R&S CMX500 signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester provides a wide range of capabilities for testing devices, supporting LTE, 5G NR in both FR1 frequency range up to 8 GHz and FR2 millimeter wave frequency range up to 50 GHz, and the latest 5G RedCap technology. It also supports non-cellular technologies, including Wi-Fi 7, all in one instrument. Through this partnership, EMITE's customers can assess the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices accurately in a comprehensive testing environment.

EMITE's advanced OTA chambers are fully prepared to meet the demanding testing needs of both current and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves considering the inclusion of test capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

The Wi-Fi 7 standard, also known as IEEE 802.11be, is the upcoming advancement in Wi-Fi technology aimed at delivering significantly higher data speeds than its predecessor, Wi-Fi 6/6E (IEEE 802.11ax). With speeds reaching tens of gigabits per second and minimal delays, Wi-Fi 7 is designed to cater to the increasing need for high-quality video streaming, virtual reality, and augmented reality experiences.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was introduced in 3GPP Release 17. It is a simplified version of 5G that is more affordable than 5G eMBB. RedCap offers moderate data speeds, consumes less power, has simpler technology, and can connect to a large number of devices. These features make it ideal for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

The CEO of EMITE, David A. Sánchez-Hernández, expressed the company's dedication to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. EMITE is pleased to announce the enhancement of their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, which will allow customers to expand their capabilities to include the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This collaboration highlights EMITE's commitment to offering advanced testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed satisfaction in deepening their partnership with EMITE. By integrating the reliable R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers portfolio, customers can confidently launch their devices with the assurance that they have undergone rigorous testing to ensure they meet top standards of reliability and efficiency for the latest technologies.
