Enhancing OTA Measurements for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap: EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Collaboration Expands Testing Capabilities

EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by incorporating the newest features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology signaling tester. This integration allows for support of LTE, FR1, FR2, IEEE 802.11be WLAN standard, and 5G RedCap.

EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be integrated with the cutting-edge testing capabilities of the R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester can test a wide range of devices, including those using LTE and 5G NR technologies in both lower and millimeter wave frequency ranges. It also supports non-cellular technologies like Wi-Fi 7, all within one instrument. By working together, EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz provide customers with a comprehensive solution for accurately evaluating the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices.

EMITE's upgraded OTA chambers are equipped to meet the demanding testing needs of both existing and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the integration of testing capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.

The Wi-Fi 7 standard, also known as IEEE 802.11be, is the upcoming version of Wi-Fi technology that is built to handle very high data speeds that go beyond Wi-Fi 6/6E (IEEE 802.11ax). With speeds of tens of gigabits per second and minimal delays, Wi-Fi 7 addresses the increasing need for high-quality video streaming, virtual reality experiences, and augmented reality applications.

RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was established in 3GPP Release 17. It is considered a simplified version of 5G that is much more affordable than 5G eMBB. RedCap is known for its moderate data speed, minimal energy usage, simple design, and capability to accommodate numerous devices. These features make it a popular choice for IoT uses.

David A. Sánchez-Hernández, the CEO of EMITE, expressed the company's dedication to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. He announced the exciting upgrade of their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, which will allow customers to test devices based on the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This collaboration highlights EMITE's commitment to offering advanced testing solutions that meet the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.

Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed his satisfaction in advancing the partnership with EMITE. He highlighted that by integrating their R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers portfolio, customers can have assurance in deploying their devices for cutting-edge technologies. This collaboration ensures that products have undergone thorough testing to meet top standards of reliability and efficiency.
