EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz Collaborate to Enhance OTA Measurements for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G RedCap Technology
EMITE and Rohde & Schwarz are working together to improve EMITE's Over-the-Air (OTA) measurement solutions by incorporating the advanced test features of the R&S CMX500 multi-technology, multi-channel signaling tester. This integration allows for compliance with LTE, FR1, FR2, IEEE 802.11be, and 5G RedCap standards.
EMITE's advanced over-the-air chambers can now be used in conjunction with the latest advanced testing capabilities of the R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester from Rohde & Schwarz. This radio communication tester can test a wide variety of devices, including those using LTE, 5G NR in the FR1 frequency range up to 8 GHz, and FR2 millimeter wave frequency range up to 50 GHz, including 5G RedCap technology. It also has the ability to test non-cellular technologies like Wi-Fi 7, all within one instrument. Through this partnership, customers of EMITE can now have a comprehensive setup for accurately evaluating the performance of Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Red Cap devices.
The OTA chambers at EMITE have been upgraded to meet the demanding testing needs of both existing and upcoming wireless technologies. The next phase of the partnership involves exploring the integration of test capabilities for NB-IoT NTN and NR NTN, which are already supported by the R&S CMW500 and R&S CMX500.
Wi-Fi 7, also known as the IEEE 802.11be standard, is the upcoming advancement in Wi-Fi technology that aims to provide significantly higher data speeds compared to Wi-Fi 6/6E (IEEE 802.11ax). It is designed to support data rates in the tens of gigabits per second range and offers low latency. This technology is intended to cater to the increasing need for high-quality video streaming, virtual reality, and augmented reality experiences.
RedCap is a type of 5G technology that was introduced in 3GPP Release 17. It is a simplified version of 5G that is much more affordable than 5G eMBB. RedCap offers moderate data speeds, consumes less power, has simpler technology, and can handle a high volume of devices. These features make it ideal for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.
David A. Sánchez-Hernández, the CEO of EMITE, expressed the company's dedication to providing high-quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction. He announced the exciting news that EMITE will be enhancing their testing chambers with the R&S CMX500, allowing customers to test the IEEE 802.11be standard and Red Cap devices. This partnership showcases EMITE's commitment to delivering top-notch testing solutions that align with the changing needs of the telecommunications industry.
Christoph Pointner, who holds the position of Senior Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, expressed his satisfaction in advancing the partnership with EMITE. This collaboration ensures that EMITE's customers can confidently use their devices for the latest technologies, as their products have undergone rigorous testing to meet top standards of reliability and efficiency. This was achieved by integrating Rohde & Schwarz's proven R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester into EMITE's OTA chambers portfolio.
