High-Performance Half and Eighth Brick Non-Isolated DC/DCs Operating at High Temperatures: A Cost-Effective Solution

The new RPMGE-10 and RPMGH-40 non-isolated DC/DC converters from RECOM are designed to operate at high temperatures up to 120°C. These converters come in half and eighth brick formats with output ratings of 10A and 40A respectively. They can accept input voltages ranging from 18V to 75VDC, making them suitable for a variety of applications. Both series offer nominal output voltages of 5V or 12V DC, which can be adjusted to 3.3-8VDC and 8-34VDC to accommodate different requirements.

These components have a sophisticated thermal design and high efficiency, reaching up to 95%. This allows them to operate at full capacity in most situations up to temperatures exceeding 100°C with airflow, and up to 120°C with reduced performance at standard input and output voltages. Their ability to run cool under normal conditions contributes to a Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) of over 1.2 million hours for all variants as per MIL-HDBK-217F standards.

The device includes controls for on/off, adjusting the output, and remote sensing, as well as protection against low voltage, excessive load, high temperature, and short circuits. These components come in a standard open frame design for through-hole mounting with industry-standard dimensions and pin configurations.

Matthew Dauterive, who holds a Master of Science degree and is the product manager for DC/DC converters at RECOM, states that the new non-isolated DC/DC converters offer great flexibility due to their ability to work with a wide range of input and output voltages. These converters are suitable for a variety of cost-effective and high-performance applications for regulating power at specific points.
