Infineon and Swoboda Collaborate to Develop High-Performance Current Sensors for Electromobility: Accelerating Innovation in Automotive Applications
Infineon Technologies AG and Swoboda have teamed up to create advanced current sensor modules for use in electric vehicles. By combining Infineon's top-quality current sensor ICs with Swoboda's experience in developing and producing sensor modules, the partnership aims to meet the increasing demand for sensing solutions in the automotive industry. These innovative current measurement solutions will help speed up the introduction of products like traction inverters and battery management systems for electric vehicles, as well as other important automotive applications.
One of the products in question is the Swoboda CSM510HP2, which includes a compact current sensor module that maintains high performance while taking up less space. It utilizes the Infineon TLE4973 coreless current sensor IC to provide accurate sensing with an error rate of less than 2 percent. The module is designed to seamlessly integrate with the HybridPACK™ Drive G2, a power module for traction inverters in electric vehicles made by Infineon. This integration removes the necessity for external current sensors, allowing for more compact traction inverters to be created.
Klaus Lebherz, Head of Business Development at Swoboda, stated that the current sensors of this new generation are setting higher standards for system integration. He mentioned that the combination of Infineon's sensor technology and Swoboda's expertise in injection molding has proven to be an excellent partnership.
Andrea Monterastelli, who is in charge of the Automotive Magnetic Sensors Product Group at Infineon Technologies, mentioned that there is a strong demand in the market for current sensing solutions that are high-performing, compact, and easy to integrate. The integration of Infineon's current sensor ICs into their HybridPack Drive G2 provides a very compact solution for hybrid and electric vehicles, thanks to the expertise of Swoboda.
Infineon and Swoboda are working together to create new current sensing solutions for various power devices. These solutions will be useful for applications such as inverter DC link and high voltage battery management.
