Infineon and Swoboda Collaborate to Develop High-Performance Current Sensors for Electromobility: Driving Innovation in Automotive Applications

Infineon Technologies AG and Swoboda are working together to create advanced current sensor modules for use in electric vehicles. This partnership combines Infineon's top-quality current sensor ICs with Swoboda's knowledge in developing and manufacturing sensor modules. By joining forces, they aim to meet the increasing demand for sensing solutions in the automotive industry, particularly in hybrid and electric vehicles. These collaborative efforts will help speed up the introduction of high-performance current measurement solutions for important automotive components like traction inverters and battery management systems.

One of the new products available is the Swoboda CSM510HP2, which includes a current sensor module that is fully enclosed and has a smaller size without sacrificing performance. It utilizes the Infineon TLE4973 coreless current sensor IC for precise sensing with an error rate of less than 2 percent. This module is designed to easily integrate with the HybridPACK™ Drive G2, which is Infineon's power module for traction inverters in electric vehicles. By incorporating the current sensor within the module, there is no longer a need for external sensors, resulting in more compact traction inverters on the market.

Klaus Lebherz, the Head of Business Development at Swoboda, stated that the current sensors of this new generation are raising the bar for simplified system integration. The combination of Infineon's advanced sensor technology and Swoboda's expertise in injection molding has proven to be a successful partnership.

Andrea Monterastelli, who leads the Automotive Magnetic Sensors Product Group at Infineon Technologies, mentioned that there is a growing need in the market for current sensing solutions that are high performance, compact, and easy to integrate. Integrating seamlessly into Infineon's HybridPack Drive G2, these solutions provide a compact option for hybrid and electric vehicles, thanks to the top-notch current sensor ICs and Swoboda's expertise.
