Infineon and Swoboda Partnership: Developing High-Performance Current Sensors for Electromobility

Infineon and Swoboda are working together to create advanced current sensors for electric vehicles. They are combining Infineon's top-quality current sensor ICs with Swoboda's skills in developing and producing sensor modules. This collaboration aims to meet the increasing demand for sensing solutions in hybrid and electric vehicles. The partnership will speed up the process of bringing high-performance current measurement solutions to market for applications like traction inverters and battery management systems in the automotive industry.

One of the new products is the Swoboda CSM510HP2, which has a smaller size but still performs well as a current sensor module. It uses the Infineon TLE4973 coreless current sensor IC for high precision sensing with an error rate below 2 percent. This module is made to easily connect with the HybridPACK™ Drive G2, Infineon's power module for electric vehicle traction inverters. By integrating the sensor module, there is no need for extra external sensors, making the traction inverters more compact than others on the market.

Klaus Lebherz, who is the Head of Business Development at Swoboda, mentioned that the new current sensors are raising the bar for system integration. He stated that the combination of Infineon's sensor technology and Swoboda's expertise in injection molding has proven to be a successful partnership.

According to Andrea Monterastelli, who is the Head of Automotive Magnetic Sensors Product Group at Infineon Technologies, the market is looking for current sensing solutions that are high performance, compact, and easy to integrate. These solutions seamlessly integrate into Infineon's HybridPack Drive G2, providing a compact option for hybrid and electric vehicles. This is made possible by using Infineon's top-notch current sensor ICs and leveraging Swoboda's expertise in the field.

Infineon and Swoboda are working together to create new current sensing solutions for various power devices. They are also focusing on applications such as inverter DC link and high voltage battery management.
